Bamberg has a history stretching back over 1000 years.

The town was first documented in 902 AD, when it was known as "Burg Bamberg", and was located at today's "Domplatz".

Bamberg and its churches: The cathedral was built at the start of the 13th Century. The surrounding churches are mostly situated in the mountainous area, on the famous “7 hills”.
