The building fell into decline in the 20th century and when C2 Original Inns bought the building in 2003 it was a simple bed and breakfast with a small, quiet bar downstairs. Since 2003, the building has been rebuilt from the foundations up, and now offers a stylish bar/meeting area on the ground floor, with 15 beautifully designed en suite rooms above.

The Sun Hotel is a listed building situated in the Lancaster Castle Conservation Area and as such we had to develop the building in conjunction with the Council's Conservation Department. As a result we do not have a lift and guests need to be aware that to reach the first and second floors they will need to use the good old fashioned stairs.

We have a wide selection of rooms ranging from our small budget, en suite room, through to our luxury suite with 2 flat-screen televisions, stand alone bath and separate seating area.

All the rooms include a desk, digital flat-screen TV, designer bathrooms and luxury furnishings. Our à la carte breakfast is included for all guests.

The hotel is situated in the very centre of Lancaster, within yards of the castle and all the city's other attractions. We are fortunate to be within 100 yards of Parksafe car park which is staffed 24 hours a day. The hotel is convenient both for the train and bus station, both are within 5 minutes’ walk. The Lake District is on Lancaster's doorstep and many people choose to utilise Lancaster as a stopping-off point en route to the Lakes.

By Car
If travelling by car we recommend parking at Parksafe car park which is less than 100 yards from the hotel. Due to Lancaster's one-way system, we advise our guests to park at Parksafe (St George's Quay) first. The car park is clearly signed on the one-way system.

From the train station:
The train station is approximately 500 yards from the hotel and an easy 5-10 minute walk.

From the bus station:
The bus station is less than 300 yards away.

Cancellation Policy: If cancelled up to 1 day before the date of arrival, no fee will be charged.
If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the first night will be charged.

All older children or adults are charged GBP 10.00 per night and person for extra beds.
